چکیده

Infections with nonsporing anaerobes are common and often pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. There is an increasing trend of resistance among anaerobes against the commonly used antibiotics. Lot of development has occurred in terms of molecular and biochemical basis for pathogenecity and virulence factors among nonsporing anaerobes. Therefore, there is a need for development of newer, quicker and cost effective diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic strategies against such infections. A comprehensive review on the newer developments in this field is presented here, in order to provide basis for the future research avenues.

Hnmr Spectroscopy and Gas Liquid Chromatography in Rapid Detection of Nonsporing Anaerobes from Clinical Specimens

The nonsporing anaerobes are commonly implicated as significant pathogens in human infections especially brain abscesses. Conventional laboratory diagnosis of anaerobes is time-consuming. Rapid detection of anaerobes from the clinical specimens is the need of the hour. Direct Gas Liquid Chromatography (GLC) has been reported to be useful in rapid detection of anaerobes from the clinical specime...

The status of research on anaerobes in Japan.

The present article describes the recent status of research on anaerobes in Japan by reviewing publications from the last few years in the Japanese Journal of the Association for Anaerobic Infection Research. Most studies were categorized into clinical infection, susceptibility and resistance mechanisms, epidemiology and typing systems, and pathogenesis and virulence factors; clinical infection...

Host factors predisposing to anaerobic infections.

Anaerobic bacterial infections of man are typically associated with locally comprised tissues and commonly also with a systemically compromised host. Thus, any condition that interferes with the systemic defence mechanisms of the host and thus predisposes to infection in general, increases the incidence of anaerobic infections also. It is generally true to say that anaerobic infections occur se...

انتقال ژن‌های بیماری‌زایی و مقاومت آنتی‌بیوتیکی در گونه‌های انتروکوک از طریق کانجوگاسیون

Background & Aim: Enterococci comprise an important and diverse group of bacteria that cause disease in human and animals. They reside in the gastrointestinal tract of human and animal, soil, water, foods, and can persist in elevated salt contents and various pH values. They can readily acquire antibiotic resistance and various other virulence factors. In this study, the prevalence of vario...
